Challenges

Smart and sustainable cities harness digital technologies and data to drive better social, environmental, and economic outcomes for citizens, businesses, and visitors. The city needs to respond to new needs in a social context that has been profoundly transformed by the Covid-19 pandemic, showing local administrators that digitization consists a unique opportunity for progress and good governance. The use of technology and data alone is not enough. If cities are to achieve their objectives, it is essential that they have an effective ecosystem framework in place.

Going towards the concept of Sustainable City

Technology is not an end in itself but the tool to enable this transformation to a Smart and Sustainable City, Resilient to challenges and always ready to adapt and maintain continuity.
Addressing the needs of the emerging smart and connected cities, City4Life Lab is set out to create an innovative ecosystem that produces solutions for citizens. It contributes to the development of smarter, more inclusive, more resilient and more sustainable urban communities through the implementation of nature-based solutions co-created with and for local stakeholders and citizen.

What is a City4Life Lab?
City4Life Lab is an open innovation ecosystem mechanism that enables users to take an active role in research, development and innovation processes. It aims to produce solutions for urban areas in sectors such as mobility, energy, urban development, environment in order to make the city attractive and improve the quality of life. It orchestrates the collaboration as it brings together different stakeholders (companies, research communities, public sector and citizens) through co-creation activities.
